Best of Austin 2011 award from Austin Chronicle
The Austin Chronicle gave our organization (under our old name, the Vegetarian Network of Austin) its Critics' Pick for "Best Virtual Veggies"! We tied with our friends from Compassion Over Killing, who at the time were producing the website VegAustin.com. The Chronicle said: "One [local] group, the Vegetarian Network of Austin, offers a variety of services through its own website, www.vegnetaustin.org, where you'll find information on membership, a calendar of events, and public education and awareness on vegetarianism." We're tremendously grateful for the honor!
Also in 2011, the following VNA supporters and newsletter advertisers also won awards:
- Best Local Food Company: Greenling Organic Delivery
- Best Neighborhood Grocery: Wheatsville Food Co-op
- Best Environmentalist: Paul Robbins
- Best Microbusiness Incubator: Community Renaissance Market
(Which included a mention of Native Nom Nom as a "delicious cafe catering to vegetarian and gluten-free diets".)
